India’s IndiGo and Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL) have announced plans to gradually launch international flight operations from Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) starting in February 2027. Under the plan, IndiGo will transfer 12 daily international departures from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) to Navi Mumbai.
According to the joint statement issued on October 25, 2026, flights to Bahrain, Riyadh, Dammam, Jeddah, Madinah, Kuwait, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, Muscat, Dhaka, and Jakarta will be relocated to the new airport. An additional daily service to Kathmandu will also be introduced, bringing IndiGo’s international network at Navi Mumbai to 12 destinations between February and July 2027. Selected domestic flights will also be transferred to facilitate connections for international passengers.
The transition will free up capacity at Mumbai’s existing airport, allowing IndiGo to launch new international routes across Asia, Africa, and Europe in 2027 using its Airbus A320, A321, and A321XLR aircraft. The plan will also support capacity adjustments required for the redevelopment of Terminal 1 at CSMIA by 2030.
IndiGo and AAHL stated that the transition between the two airports will take place in phases. Final dates for the flight transfers and new route launches will be announced once operational preparations and the necessary regulatory approvals are completed.
